You can use Google Slides to make a great presentation, and it is a part of Google’s Office services. You can use it through a Web browser on any operating system and device. It means flexibility and mobility for us.

Google Slides typical use cases

You can use Google Slides in your everyday life, and you will find these features valuable:

  • Create business slides online or offline.
  • Add graphics and other multimedia objects for your slides,
  • Animate slides, and objects on your slides.
  • And you can download the presentation in different format, like PowerPoint and PDF files.

Additionally you can share presentations to others. And present the file in real-time in Google Meet.

The Slides window

There are three parts of the Google Slides window:

  • Menu. Here you will find all Google Slides commands.
  • Toolbar. There are icons here. If you want to do something in Slides, you can use them. All icons represents commend in the menu.
  • Sidebar. The sidebar simply contains thumbnails of each slide. In this place you can add or move slides.

There are menus available for you. Each menu contains commands that can be useful to you:

  • File. Possibility to create new presentations, open existing one, email them, and make them offline. And possibility to import PowerPoint presentation, and download your document into PowerPoint or PDF format.
  • Edit. This menu contains Copy, Cut, Paste, and Delete commands, and very usable command for Find and Replace.
  • View. This part contains all useful commands to show or hide windows parts, like rules and gridlines.
  • Insert. You can insert images, text boxes, videos, audio files, and more objects and media into your presentations. And you can add new slides here.
  • Format. The format menu has items for changing text formatting, change the line spacing, and edit tables and images that have been inserted into a slide. There are several other items in the menu as well.
  • Slide. This menu has items where users can insert a new slide or duplicate one, hide slides. It contains all commands which allows you manage your slides.
  • Arrange. Through the Arrange menu, users can rotate objects and text boxes, rotate them, group them, and change their alignment. There are other items in the menu too.
  • Tools. The menu contains items for checking spelling, viewing linking objects, and creating notes by speaking them. There are other items as well. Items in this menu aid the user in adding content in slides and improving the content.
  • Help. The Help menu has items for teaching users how to use Slides, legal documentation about Google’s office suite, and keyboard shortcuts.

Additionally you can add new features to your documents:

  • Add-Ons. This menu contains a list of external applications and tools (called Add-ons). It is possible to manage Add-ons here. Please remember that this menu is only visible for Google-converted documents.
